SD Web Studio - TC Food

We've been working hard with TC Food in Traverse City over the past couple of months promoting and redesigning the websites for Fire Fly, Bubba's, Giovanni's Roadhouse and Grandview Catering.

As we approach the holiday season, these Traverse City restaurants are offering a unique deal we figured we should let people know about. Buy a $100 gift certificate, get a $20 gift certificate for free. It's worth checkin' out. Buy your friends or family a gift certificate and eat free!

On a side note, I'm on Twitter again - follow me at "sdwebtc". I'll link to it a little later, I have to run.

Peace!

Henderson Imports - Applicant for Small Business of the Year

We were pleased to attend the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Celebration Candidates' Showcase last night at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City. Henderson Imports (http://www.hendersonltd.com/), one of our website clients, is one of 34 businesses applying for Small Business of the Year!

Henderson Imports has been in business for 12 years. They went from, as James puts it, "modest beginnings in [their] own home to a space which [they] quickly outgrew, and then into the modern 6,000 square foot storefront and warehouse space [they] currently occupy".

We are proud to be a part of their online business, inasmuch as Steve has designed their website and continues to maintain their site and data integration.

For some cool bagpipe music, check out their youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/HendersonLTD Also, take a look at their site if you're looking for a new set of bagpipes! :)

If you are interested in pursuing an e-commerce site like Henderson's, give us a call!

Kule Tool

We thought we'd share a nifty FREE tool Adobe puts out called Kuler (http://kuler.adobe.com/) with you. Kuler helps you choose colors and color themes that are complimentary to each other and to your design. You can select from premade themes or make your own based on a start color. We're using it for website design, but hey... need some paint color ideas?? It's a thought! We all need a little inspiration sometimes, don't we??

45th Parallel's Candy World

It's Monday morning at SD Web Studio and I'm sitting in front of my computer contemplating the week ahead. At the same time, I'm trying to determine where last week went! I also find it somewhat troubling that although it is not even noon on Monday, this week is so planned out, that it in fact seems as if the week is almost over. Ugh!

At SD Web Studio, I focus on developing and maintaining websites. I'm hoping to use this blog to share with you some of the projects I'm working on as well as some of the people I work with.

Today I want to share with you a little bit about 45th Parallel's Candy World.

45th Parallel's Candy World (or 45th Fudge as I refer to them) is one of Northern Michigan's hidden gems. Located in Suttons Bay, Michigan, 45th Fudge offers their customers delicious homemade treats and hard-to-find candy products that we all knew and loved as children.

What sets 45th Parallel apart from other fudge and candy companies is their commitment to creating candy the old fashioned way. There is no show - just perfect, high quality candy.

As a web designer I get the opportunity to meet and work with many clients. I learn about why they started their business and what they are passionate about. Bridgett Lamdin, the owner of 45th Parallel's Candy World is passionate about her fudge! She is proud of the product she creates and why shouldn't she be? In blind taste tests conducted between her fudge and a local competitor, customers chose her fudge 100% of the time!

Now I know some of you may be skeptical. So was I. But you can sit down and listen to Bridgett discuss the process of creating her fudge, you can hear the thought that goes into each one of her confections and you can hear the comments she receives from her customers and your skepticism will slowly fade - but ultimately, you can taste the fudge, take a bite and let the sweet homemade fudge melt in your mouth, feel the unique texture of fudge on your tongue and savor the moment... In that moment your skepticism will be blown away and you'll have enjoyed a truly great product.

Can't make it to Suttons Bay to see for yourself? Order some for yourself online! Once you've tried it, you'll do what many people do - you'll order some for your family and friends! With Christmas right around the corner, now is the time to start thinking about unique gifts - Fudge makes the perfect holiday gift!
